Keith Whitnight, Building Owner, Threw Dog Poop Into Tenant's House (Updated)

Youre supposed to clean up dog poop, not throw it.
  • You're supposed to clean up dog poop, not throw it.

Update: Via the Chronicle-Telegram, Keith Whitnight pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct Monday in connection with his feces-flinging incident last year.

Tenants and landlords are bound to have tiffs every once in awhile. A drain clogs, a service call delayed, rent is late —- it can really be anything small or large. These disagreements usually end amicably, if not at least with civility.

They tend not to end with someone throwing dog poop. Not always though, as a recent incident in Lorain proves.

According to the Lorain Morning Journal, police were called to a building on the 900 block of Washington Avenue by a tenant complaining that his landlord, Keith Whitnight, was on the property yelling at him. Whitnight was upset because, he claims, there was an abundance of trash and dog feces at the man's house and it had not been cleaned up. This sent him over the edge.

Cops sided with the tenant.

The officer on scene saw the trash and dog feces on the porch rooftop, the report stated. The trash was not in excess, “the problem was that one of the six dogs that are currently staying at the house tore up two bags of trash ... The main issue was the amount of dog feces that was built up.”

The owner of the dogs said “he had not been able to pick up the poop because of the recent snowfall, and that now because the snow melted, it is all visible. The feces built up so quick because of the fact that six dogs are at his apartment.

They then told Whitnight he was not allowed back on the property.

And that should have been the end of the story — cops leaving, Whitnight leaving, the tenant safe and sound.

Except it wasn't. It was only the beginning. Mere minutes later, the saga continued with flying dookie. Of course it did.

Nineteen minutes later, police were dispatched to the building again because Whitnight threw feces into the man’s home, the report stated.

Police then went to the backyard and saw Whitnight on the second floor rooftop with a shovel, throwing garbage cans, loose trash and feces.

Whitnight was arrested for criminal trespassing, criminal damaging, disorderly conduct and littering.

You have to love the delicious irony of Whitnight being charged for littering when he was initially upset that his tenant hadn't been picking up his trash.
