We’ve all been there, right? Your mom packs you and your siblings off on some lame family excursion and you’re stuck, no way out, a license-less teen shanghaied away to an early A.M. crafts fair or to boost scrap from a Mentor metal yard. Exactly, who hasn’t been there?

Such was the Saturday morning mother-daughter activity of Terri Bowers and her 14- and 15-year old. After dawn cracked this weekend, Mentor Police got a call about trespassers at Micron Metalworks, located on Tyler Blvd., according to the News-Herald.

When the police showed up, they found Bowers, her offspring, and 23-year-old Christine Deering trying to walk away with the product. The suspected boost crew blahed about having permission to take the scrap, but once police contacted the yard’s owner, the story proved to be bogus.

The pack was arrested, the teens shunted off to juvenile court, the adults off to Mentor municipal court, where they face criminal trespassing, theft, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
