The Indians Will Win at Social Media if They Can't Win at Baseball

The light at the end of the tunnel might be visible with the Tribe, but the Wahoos aren't there yet. In the meantime, while trying to climb out of the cellar of the AL Central, the team's continuing their push to be winners on at least one front: social media.

Progressive Field sported a fancy if makeshift "social media deck" in left field last year. This year, the team's moving the digs for Twitterers and bloggers up to a genuine suite. Score.

On one hand, it's a nice gesture. The Tribe is among the best in baseball at interacting with those non-traditional outlets that cover and follow the team. Last year's deck was more like a zoo exhibit, barely quartered off from the rest of the fans by a fence, making it quite easy for parents to point and stare and warn their kids not to go to journalism school.

On the other hand, the Tribe hasn't been able to sell their suites like back in the day — something about sucking, or something like that — so there's plenty of room up in the glass-enclosed, air-conditioned regions. We're about two years of losing away from the Dolans renting the suites out as efficiency apartments.
