Clevelander Rory O'Malley a Favorite to Win Tony Award for Role in "The Book of Mormon"

Posted By on Fri, Jun 3, 2011 at 11:50 AM

30-year-old Rory O'Malley is one of the stars of "The Book of Mormon," the raunchy, heartfelt, and hilarious Broadway musical from Southpark creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. O'Malley is also a Clevelander and a St. Ignatius grad. He is also nominated for a Tony for "Best Featured Actor in a Musical." (The show racked up 14 nominations in all, the most of any Broadway show this year).

Read the New York Times' glowing review of the show here, and if you browse through the paper's picks for who will take home trophies at the Tony Awards on June 12, you'll see O'Malley is a favorite to win.

Below is audio of "Turn it Off," a scene-stealing number led by O'Malley about suppressing feelings, including gay ones, as a Mormon. Funny.
