Shooting Thursday Night Downtown

Posted By on Fri, Jun 3, 2011 at 11:54 AM

Last night downtown was heated up with some flying bullets, and unfortunately by the time everything settled down, three people were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds. Police reportedly have two suspects in custody. This looks like it could be the overture to another long summer of downtown discord on the weekend.

According to the accounts leaking out, the incident stemmed from some altercation at Club Allure, a spot squeezed onto a side street of Public Square, down the block from John Q’s. Shots were fired as the club was emptying out around 2:30. Police found two injured men on West 3rd and Frankfurt Street, and a third guy outside of XO on West 6th and St. Clair. 19ActionNews has the break down of their injuries:

It is reported that a male victim, 30, suffered four gunshot wounds (2 to the mid section, 1 to the thigh and 1 to the elbow), another male, 21, suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest and the third victim suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg. His age is unknown at this time.

Two individuals were arrested at the scene, a man and woman, both 25.

This morning, we did a walk-by of the crime scenes. All was quiet. XO had its white linen out on the patio for Friday lunch, John Q’s seemed to be getting ready for the same, and Club Allure was closed. We snapped the above picture of where a stray bullet paid John Q’s a visit.
