The Phantasy Gets a Close-Up on New Megadeth Reissue

Posted By on Wed, Jul 6, 2011 at 10:51 AM

The 25th anniversary edition of Megadeth's Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying? includes a bonus disc featuring a live show recorded at the Phantasy in 1987.

Like most reissues these days, this one is available in a bunch of different configurations. Depending on your financial bracket (and level of Megadeth fandom), you can pick up the two-disc set, the digital version, or a deluxe five-disc/three-LP box that includes rare mixes and memorabilia.

No matter which edition you go for, you'll get to hear the Cleveland show.

The reissue's producer, Dennis Wolfe, writes about the Cleveland show in the liner notes:

"Why the live club show from '87? This gig was on fire with Megadeth in their edgy, formative youth, getting ready to take over the world. You can hear a band that is primed for the big-time, on their way up, touring to promote an album that would change metal music. Is it the most polished recording and performance? No. Did it grasp the moment of a legendary band on the rise, fighting to earn every fan's allegiance? Oh yeah. Plus, no one's ever heard it before. Bonus."

The album comes out next week.

If you were at the show, and can remember it, leave us a comment about it. Was it special enough to be included on the reissue? —Michael Gallucci
