No One Gets Tickets for Texting While Driving in Cleveland

Posted By on Thu, Jul 7, 2011 at 9:47 AM

Stats on Cleveland's enforcement of the texting while driving ban from WOIO:

In 2010, 40 tickets were given out with a total of $1,075 collected in fines.

In 2011, up until June 29th, just 16 tickets were given out with a total of $115 collected in fines.

Obviously, texting while driving is simply dangerous, and the lack of enforcement doesn't mean you should continue to pound out LOLs while driving with your knees. That's the deterrent, not the possibility of a ticket and a fine. Here's a pretty graphic PSA from England in case you need reminding.
