July 8th Is an Important Day in Cleveland Sports History

July 8 will always be remembered as an important day in Cleveland sports history. We're talking, of course, about the anniversary of Sandy Alomar's all-star game homer in front of the hometown crowd at The Jake on July 8, 1997. He was named the All Star Game MVP, the first time a player's been given the honor at his home park. Good decision by the voters.

Video below, for you to savor the moment all over again. (Something else in Cleveland sports history might have also happened on July 8, but we won't talk about that. Enjoy the homer instead, and a perfect "The Sandy Man Can" sign in the stands.)
