Tribe TV Ratings Skyrocket

While the Cleveland Indians continue their surprising contention in what was supposed to be another lackluster season, Northeast Ohio has been paying attention. It's too early to call it a full-blown case of Tribe fever (Bylaw 11.4c of Cleveland news blogging requires minimum one mention of Tribe fever per post), and fans have as of yet not shown their interest at the turnstiles — Cleveland still ranks 26th in attendance, averaging just 21,106 per game — Wahoo supporters have shown more than a passing interest in watching Tribe baseball.

Sports Business Journal reports today that TV ratings for Indians games have jumped 80% this year on SportsTime Ohio, the highest jump in MLB, to a 6.32 notch. The next closes climb came in Texas, which scored a 35% increase. St. Louis has the highest average TV rating at 9.06.

Cleveland: We'll watch the Indians, we guess, maybe if Glee is a repeat. Also, possibly just to see if Shelley Duncan washed his hair today.
