If you’re wondering what the homemade sign policy is at Quicken Loans Arena, I’ll tell you: It can't be bigger than “the size of your body” or you’re going to have to walk it back to your car.

This is important to know because I spent all day perfecting my giant Donnie Wahlberg head for last night's NKOTBSB concert. Don’t laugh, he pointed at me. Seriously. I was on the Jumbotron.

There were two generations of fans at last night's NKOTBSB show: the '89ers and the '99ers, which makes sense since the two groups in question are the New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys.

There may be a small divide among the groups' fans, but they happen to share one thing: a love for cheesy music and lots and lots of crotch grabs.

The show went one for one, with the Backstreet Boys performing a song, then NKOTB. Back and forth all night. In between was a friendly mash-up of “Hangin’ Tough” and “I want It That Way.”

We fans got all the nostalgia we could handle: “Rock your Body,” “Tonite,” “The Right Stuff,” and “Shape of My Heart.” But it was the “Cleveland Rocks” cover that truly sealed the deal.

The Backstreet Boys also found a way to mix in Prince’s “Raspberry Beret” into “Quit Playing Games With My Heart,” and NKOTB did “Favorite Girl” over Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison.”

Sure, Boyz II Men didn’t do the encore and maybe I didn’t get backstage to fulfill my Jordan Knight sleeping-bag dream, but what happened was still amazing.

NKOTB have held onto their rabid fan base for almost 25 years; the Backstreet Boys released their first single almost 16 years ago. Whether you don’t get it, don’t care, or just don’t like them, you can’t argue with an arena full of screaming horny girls, moms, and old ladies. —Jara Anton
