The downtown construction that’s broadening your vocabulary with each daily commute has claimed another victim: The annual Taste of Cleveland, a Labor Day tradition since 1995, will not happen this year. And yup, it’s the orange barrels’ fault.

“Every time we turned around, the city and ODOT decided to close the bridge or change a traffic pattern,” Barry Gabel, spokesman for event promoter Live Nation, told The Plain Dealer.

But fret not, hungry Clevelander: An even grander food party will go on as planned, and this one won’t gouge you on cheap booze. Scene’s annual Tasteful Affair, a celebration of Cleveland’s hottest chefs and restaurants — and their fabulous beverages! — is slated to take place this October.

Stay tuned to Scene for further details, which will be released just as soon as ODOT reopens a few more $%#*@ bridges.
