Sex scandal, or metal bat beat down?
  • Sex scandal, or metal bat beat down?

Fall, that fleet partywrecker, has got the jump on us already. Outside, the temperature is on a one-way dive toward Damn Cold again. Beer shelves are going empty for Sunday's home opener. Kids are back in the classroom, huffing chalk dust and allowing education to seep in. Oh, and teachers are getting caught misbehaving. That's right, you know it's not really the school year yet until a learning provider ends up in a compromising position. And we were just working up to that base tan.

The Cleveland Public School aren't starting the season off on the right foot. Two district teachers are in the headlines this week, facing criminal charges you don't want your average Kotters or Feenys associated with.

The first is a good ole fashion teacher sex scandal slowly unraveling at John Adams High School. According to 19ActionNews, district officials have informed police about a female teacher who's been having a relationship with a male student for up to two years. The info is thin — that's all there is spinning the circuits as of now. But you can watch the news clip for lingering shots of the school building and interviews with parents and students going “wow” and “noooooo” in stock moral reprehension.

Sex is again the mover behind the second incident involving a Cleveland schools art instructor, albeit in a more traditional way. John Willis, who spends his days in the classrooms and hallways of Jane Adams, was recently arrested at his home in Akron. The teacher is accused of introducing the edge of an aluminum bat to the leg of an admirer of his teenage daughter. Willis caught the love birds doing what teenagers do, and forbade the youngin' from seeing his daughter. And doing what teenagers do, the kid got smart with Willis. The beat down commenced.
