Gas Prices Continue to Climb in Northeast Ohio

Starting to hurt . . .
  • Starting to hurt . . .

Nothing makes the Monday morning crawl to work more of a pain than when you climb into the car and see that the weekend travels drained the gas tank, meaning you have to fill up before the commute. This happened to us this morning when we were filling up the Scene Adventure Cruiser, and the situation was all the worse when we saw gas prices have jumped yet again.

19ActionNews has a quick report on the current trend of rising prices. Locally, the average pump cost has risen 15.6 cents over the last week, bringing the average up to $3.39 a gallon. That's still just under the national average of $3.49, but that figure only climbed about 6 cents over the same time period.

Some historical perspective:

Including the change in gas prices in Cleveland during the past week, prices Sunday were 60.1 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 8.8 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 12.0 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 66.3 cents per gallon higher than this day one year ago.
