What do TSA, Gnomes, Free Gift Wrap, and Santa Have in Common: Hopkins

Well, this is just plain nice. There will be all sorts of things going on at Hopkins Airport tomorrow and Thursday to make the holiday travel experience less of a stress.

You know how you can’t go through security with wrapped gifts because they might be unwrapped? No problem—save your paper and tape and send those naked presents into the scanner; when you emerge from the frisking line, they might be wrapped for free. The airport is teaming with American Greetings to provide gift wrapping during certain hours tomorrow and Wednesday.

The hours aren’t specified, but, Scene’s most seasoned travelers are betting it won’t be during the morning rush for 7 to 10 a.m. departures. We recommend looking for free gift wrap after that, but before 6 p.m. No matter the hours, it’s still a nice thing.

And even more flying fun awaits!

Whether you love or hate that travel gnome (we don’t love it), you gotta love the prospect of trading gate-sitting doldrums for a gnome scavenger hunt. If you find one of the 10 hidden gnomes in the airport, you will get a $100 Amex gift card. Yes,Travelocity pitched in for this one. But it’s fun and…just nice.

And of course, Santa Claus will be strolling the corridors beyond the security lines, handing out hot chocolate and candy canes, and there will be carolers roaming about too. All the better for nice, warm and fuzzy holiday feelings.

Scene tips its stocking cap to Fox 8 News for the info.

And any pointers on how to get past security without a plane ticket would be good because we really want to find one of those gnomes.
