Church Bells Ring Again: Bishop Richard Lennon says he will not fight the Vatican’s order to reopen 12 churches he had closed in recent years. Lennon gave no timetable for reopening the churches, though it could happen as soon as he remembers where he put the damned keys.

: University of Akron researchers confirm that computers can grade student essays as well as people can. The breakthrough comes some 20 years after middle school students confirmed that computers can write essays better than kids can.

Shortening the Leash: Cleveland City Council moves to reinstate new residency requirements for city workers in the wake of fire department payroll abuses. It remains unclear whether fire department employees who don’t actually work would also be subject to the rule.
