In an email to subscribers, Big Dog Theater owner Don Mitri announced that the Coventry spot will be closing at the end of December after two years in operation.

The full email, via Patch, after the jump.

After much deliberating and thought Big Dog Theater will close its doors at the end of December. This decision was not easy to make but it was one that had to be made and it is time to say goodbye. I am one of the luckiest people to have been able to start this theater and I have enjoyed every single minute of this amazing ride! Big Dog Theater will continue to offer classes/workshops as well as providing corporate education and outreach programs. Booking private and public shows will continue.

Thank you to the Centrum for the wonderful opportunity, Deena Nyer Mendlowitz for her constant support, our first short form improv group the incredible Thunderlips and the Submissives (TATS RULES), my wife Jennifer for her commitment and support to this project (love you so much baby), Mike Mercer for his support of the Arts in Cleveland, Jeff Blanchard my business partner and mentor, Steve Presser of Big Fun for his constant support, Coventry and our amazing city. Thank you to every single comedy/sketch group, theater troupe, film event, musical group and stand up comedian that stepped on stage and entertained us. Huge thanks to each and every person that came out and supported Big Dog Theater. You bought a ticket, got on board with us and you all made this ride absolutely memorable!

We have 2 shows left in December and I would love to see you all to share a laugh at the Dog! On December 21st we hit the stage with one of Cleveland's best short form improv troupes Thunderlips and the Submissives. Showtime is 9pm and tickets are $5 cash only. Our last show in the space will be on December 28th when Deena brings back her fantastic show This Improvised Life for one more night. This show combines Cleveland storytellers and improvisers for a twist on the traditional improv show. Showtime is 9pm and tickets are $8 cash only.

Thank you all and we will see you again!

Sincerely,

Don Mitri
