Hoppin' Frog Christmas Ale Wins Blind Taste Test; Great Lakes Not Among Top Three Finishers

To all you Great Lakes Christmas Ale honks and aficionados, those that write songs about the brew and celebrate its arrival with unending Instagrams and Facebook posts and tweets, just know it's not the best thing in the world. You know that, right? We love it too, but keep your Xmas spectrum in proper perspective.

To wit: for the second year in a row, a blind Christmas beer tasting earlier this month crowned Hoppin' Frog's Frosted Frog Christmas Ale the best of the bunch. It was followed by Southern Teir's 2XMAS and Fat Head's Holly Jolly, which is a personal favorite around the office.

Via ABJ, the other participants in the blind taste test were: The other beers sampled were: Breckenridge Christmas Ale, Lakefront Holiday Spice, Columbus 12 Hops of Christmas, North Coast Wintertime Ale, Samuel Adams Winter Lager, Great Lakes Christmas Ale, Anchor Christmas, Thirsty Dog 12 Dogs of Christmas, Bell's Christmas Ale and Goose Island Christmas Ale.
