USPS Partners With Cleveland Company For New Clothing Line

Posted By on Wed, Feb 20, 2013 at 9:54 AM

Nothing screams "sexy" like a postal worker's garb, so the next logical step for the faltering United States Postal Service is to start up a clothing line! With a company from Cleveland!

Wahconah Group, which operates rather quietly on Pearl Road, is entrenched mostly in men's fashion with a penchant for integrating technology into the product. They've come on board with the USPS to flesh out the fashion industry's freshest iteration.

"The main focus will be to produce Rain Heat & Snow apparel and accessories using technology to create ‘smart apparel’ — also known as wearable electronics," Postal Service Corporate Licensing Manager Steven Mills says, referencing sweat-wicking fabric and coats that pump out the sweet melodies of your favorite mp3s. "This agreement will put the Postal Service on the cutting edge of functional fashion."

The company is opening a showroom in New York City in the near future to display its style. The initial men's line of USPS-inspired clothing will drop in 2014, according to the company.

Wahconah CEO Isaac Crawford adds: "The products will build on the rich American history of this iconic brand, creating specialized apparel for consumers, at affordable prices, delivering something new and exciting that retailers can offer their customers.” Crawford's company will finance the venture completely, with a small portion of profits going to the USPS.

An addendum to all news releases relating to this unique development reads: "The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses, and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations." ...And tight new threads, of course.
