Flats to Bring Back Dueling Piano Bar?

Posted By on Wed, Apr 10, 2013 at 9:47 AM

Developers are still working to finalize financing on Phase 2 of the Flats East Bank development project, but this morning seven new food and entertainment tenants were revealed in addition to those previously announced. For fans of fine food, the pickings are slim to say the least. Indeed, it feels a little like the Flats of old.

In addition to Toby Keith’s Bar & Grill, Ken Stewart’s, Lago, Flip Side and Willeyville, Phase 2 will feature BBR, The Beer Market, The Big Bang, Constantino’s Café, FWD, East Bank News & Gift and Panini’s Bar & Grill.

BBR (Beers Burgers & Rock) is described as a "high-end sports bar by day and rock club by night." Along with a zillion flat-screen TVs, the joint features signature Mac-n-Cheese, crab cakes, wings and specialty house made Burgers. This will be the second location of the Columbus-based concept.

The Beer Market — no, not the Bier Markt — is billed as "an old-world specialty beer pub" featuring over 500 craft beers. A mezzanine stage offers live entertainment "by celebrity partners and entertainers." The Beer Market currently operates two locations in the Chicago Metropolitan area.

The Big Bang — no, not Howl at the Moon — will feature two dueling grand pianos and four entertainers who combine music, comedy and audience participation to create a fast-paced, high-energy show. Ladies, begin scheduling those bachelorette parties!

FWD is a 15,000-square-feet "waterfront nightlife destination featuring private cabanas, villas, dance floor tables, a back-stage VIP room, and dance floor." Thanks to high-tech sound and lighting systems, the joint aims to be the premiere mid-west destination for national and international DJs.

Also in the lineup is Constantino’s Café, a quick-service café from the owners of Constantino’s Market. East Bank News & Gift, offering wine, cigars, and gourmet snacks. And a 10,000-square-foot, two-story Panini’s Bar & Grill with boat docking.

Phase 2 is anticipated to break ground as soon as this summer.
