Wednesday Evening: 'Woman to Woman Safety Forum'

The Glenville Recreation Center is hosting the "Woman to Woman Safety Forum" tomorrow night from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

"It's about solution making," said the event's organizer, Twon Billings, a former gang leader in Cleveland who is now a self-defense trainer and a leading advocate for women's safety in the area.

Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Pinkey S. Carr, who grew up in the Lee-Miles neighborhood and was the prosecutor in the Anthony Sowell case, is moderating the forum. Panelists include:

-Judge Joan Synenberg, Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas Court
-Yvonne Pointer, City of Cleveland Community Relations Board
-Councilwoman Yvonne Conwell, Cuyahoga County Council, District 9
-Detective Nicole Saxon, RTA Transit Police
-Detective Yashila Crowell, East Cleveland Police Department
-Attorney Jocelyn Conwell
-Anita Hill, Mothers Against Youth Violence

Here's the schedule:
-6 pm, opening prayer
-6:05 pm, welcome from Twon Billings
-6:15 pm, "why we are here" from Ginny Hearn, COO, Department of Collateral Damage
-6:25 pm, comments from moderator Judge Pinkey S. Carr
-6:30 pm, panelist introductions
-6:40 pm, discussions about sexual assault, domestic violence, self-defense training
-7:10 pm, panel and community dialogue
-7:55 pm, closing prayer
