Lakewood police are investigating the death of Pamela Jo Friedl, whose name was just released today following positive identification from the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office. The alleged murder is the first in Lakewood since January 2012. Cleveland resident Johnny Johnson has been charged with murder.

Friedl had been missing since Aug. 20, prompting police to pay a visit to the apartment.

“Officers found the [Elbur Manor] apartment neat and orderly except for the cat which had defecated and urinated throughout the apartment,” as the news release stated. Their search brought them back to the apartment Sept. 5, when they discovered Friedl's decomposing body in a bedroom closet. Lakewood Patch reports that "blunt force trauma" is the cause of death, though that has not yet been confirmed.

The discovery of the Friedl's body came days after Lakewood police investigated the death of a 62-year-old man found at Lakewood Park. He was lying in the grass on the northern side of the park; investigators believe he died of natural causes.
