Cleveland City Council has announced a new plan to add more than 70 miles of bikeway to Cleveland by the end of 2017.

That's approximately a 250% increase to existing infrastructure.

The overall goal of the City’s bike plan is to provide cycling amenities in every Cleveland neighborhood, whether for transportation or recreational use. This plan supports Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s vision for Sustainable Cleveland 2019 and Healthy Cleveland, both of which encourage active living, quality of life and thriving neighborhoods.

Here's a map of the city's projected improvements:

The new Bikeway Network Plan will be formally introduced to the public at the annual "Bike Cleveland" meeting on Sunday, Jan. 19.
