Cleveland State University is placing President Ronald Berkman's lavish Shaker Heights home on the market.

Berkman (amidst divorce proceedings, originally reported by The Cauldron) would like to live downtown, he's said, and the University would like to be rid of the annual lease and maintenance costs. So it's a win for everybody.

Karen Farkas at the NEOMG reported that Berkman would be the first president in CSU's history — the school was founded in 1964 — not to live in Shaker Heights.

But who knows how quickly the home will sell? Berkman has said he will remain at the Eaton Road residence until it does — it's currently valued at more than $800,000 via a university spokesman — and then will become one of the 12,500+ who now call downtown Cleveland home.

The state of Ohio currently owns former CSU President Michael Schwartz's home, also in Shaker Heights, and intends to put that one on the market too. It's been vacant for some time.
