Cleveland Museum of Art Debuts 'Forbidden Games' Photo Exhibition This Weekend

Debuting this Sunday (Oct. 19), the Cleveland Museum of Art presents Forbidden Games: Surrealist and Modernist Photography. This free exhibition showcases the collection of art collector and filmmaker David Raymond. The Raymond Collection was acquired by the CMA in 2007 and features 167 photographs and illustrated books focused on Surrealist and Modernist Photography from the 1920s through 1940s.

The collection features artists from more than fourteen countries, including France, Germany, Soviet Russia, the Netherlands, Belgium and others, and includes a number of significant photographers, including Man Ray, Brassai, Maurice Tabard, Roger Perry, Alexander Rodchenko, El Lissitzky, Erwin Blumenfeld, a collection of 23 works by Parisian artist Dora Maar and many more.



Forbidden Games is located inside the CMA’s Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation Exhibition Hall. The exhibition runs through Sunday Jan. 11. Admission to the exhibition and the museum is free and open to the public.
