Sweet Apple Releases Halloween-themed Music Video

Posted By on Wed, Oct 29, 2014 at 1:59 PM

Just in time for Halloween, Sweet Apple, the indie rock band that pairs Clevelanders John Petkovic and Tim Parnin with Dinosaur Jr’s J. Mascis and Witch’s Dave Sweetapple, has released a new Halloween-themed video that it shot in Salem, Mass. The video for the tune “Reunion,” a duet featuring Guided by Voices frontman Bob Pollard, revisits the 1692 Salem Witch Trials and includes footage from the House of Seven Gables that inspired Nathaniel Hawthorne's classic novel and Salem's Old Burial Place, the spot where many of the figures from the Salem Witch Trials were buried. In the clip, a skateboarding, Rayban-wearing warlock tries to steal candy from a couple of trick-or-treaters and they chase him through a graveyard and into the woods. “People often associate reunions with bands or get-togethers and like to think that they are not part of the day-to-day reunions that we have with strangers, memories, places, the past,” says Petkovic, sounding a bit like a modern-day Confucius. "For the video, we figured we’d go back 400-some years.”
