Nearly $1 Million in LeBron Shoes Stolen, Recovered in Memphis

Posted By on Fri, Dec 12, 2014 at 10:20 AM

Crisis averted! Crisis averted! Though an employee at a Memphis-area Nike facility stole 7,500 pairs of the new Nike LeBron 12s early this week, he was apprehended shortly after the attempted heist.

The Nike 12s are worth as much as $250, and a county sheriff's assistant estimated that the total haul was worth anywhere between $700,000 and $1 million.

Memphis is a distribution hub for both Nike and FedEx, so a cargo task force comprised of FBI agents, US Marshalls, and city and county police officers work round the clock for crimes just like this one.

And though the sheriff's office claimed the size of the load made getting away undetected unlikely, 700 pairs of shoes have yet to be found! We're monitoring eBay closely.

It's also worth noting that Cleveland Magazine's editor Steve Gleydura, for whatever reason, covered the release of LeBron's latest shoe in pretty extensive detail this fall.
