In this week’s episode of Two Girls With Glasses, Brandi McElhatten and Nikki Delamotte delve into the world of costuming. Joining them is the renowned costume and production designer Inda Blatch-Geib and her daughter, rising star designer Chialla Geib.

Inda Blatch-Geib’s work can be seen in the upcoming Mi Muñequita, produced by Cleveland Public Theatre’s Latino-based company founded in 2013, Teatro Publico de Cleveland. The play will run one weekend only, taking place March 5 – 7.

Blatch-Geib’s experience ranges from production and costume design for a retro-invoking mod set of Mad Men to creating the bohemian-chic outfit for Grammy winner Eliesha Nelson’s album cover. On the podcast, she details crafting installations for the Akron Art Museum and her shoot with Vanity Fair UK when Scarlett Johansson was in town for the filming of The Avengers.

Her work was previously showcased in the recent Cleveland Public Theatre Big Box show, Style Is The Answer to Everything. She discusses the challenge of balancing creativity and constraints within the play, costumed on a shoestring budget. Her costumes still managed to lead the show through tongue-in-cheek vignettes of women’s roles throughout the last century, each defined by different decades.

Together, Blatch-Geib and her daughter have collaborated on two window installations for the theater's fundraiser extravaganza Pandemonium, along with costuming several productions.

McElhatten and Delamotte also recap their experience at Cleveland’s first Wizard World Comic Con, where they interviewed cosplayers from Batman and Catwoman’s daughter, the Huntress, to Renaissance corset-makers to a haunted Alice in Wonderland. Chialla adds in her two cents about roaming the convention while donning a Michelle Pfeiffer Catwoman costume.
