Loud in Cleveland with Morgan Mecaskey: Introducing a New Scene Partnership

Posted By on Mon, Mar 23, 2015 at 10:23 AM

This morning, we present the beginnings of a new partnership between Scene and Loud in Cleveland, an awesome music podcast hosted by Drew Maziasz and Michael Cornacchione. Each episode is a conversation with a local musical artist or band about life, their music, their relationships, and the scene. Their first 10 episodes covered Brite Winter, Ohio Sky, 2014 in review and much more. You should go listen to them

We're happy to share with you Loud in Cleveland's 11th episode.

From Mike and Drew:

"This week as our first show in conjunction with the Cleveland Scene Magazine, we proudly present our conversation with the wonderful Morgan Mecaskey. Morgan has been one of our absolute favorite singer-songwriters in the Cleveland area for quite a while now. Every time we find ourselves in her audience we are amazed at what can only be described as her incredible poise and soulful power. Every show is moving and you walk away feeling like a better person. She certainly did not disappoint in our conversation.

"But all that power and soul doesn't even take into consideration the fact that Morgan Mecaskey consistently surrounds herself with some of the best musicians in Cleveland and fields probably the most talented backing bands in the area. Once we got going some more, Morgan told us a little bit about the private side of her songwriting process and how it’s changed over the course of her musical career and all the different places that her material comes from. She also told us about her evolution as a singer while Drew and I expressed our frustration with not being great singers ourselves. We even got to talk a little about what it’s like to be a woman in what a lot of people think is a total 'boy’s club.'

"This episode was recorded right before her most recent show at Mahall’s in Lakewood but her next scheduled performance is at Music Box Supper Club on May 22nd with the Nate Jones Band and The Womacks. Morgan will also be at Larchmere Porchfest in mid-June."
