'Bada Bingo' Event Tonight to Raise Support for Zygote Press

Posted By on Fri, May 8, 2015 at 7:37 AM

For more than two decades, Zygote Press has served the community as the region’s premier printmaking nonprofit organization. Being so great isn’t cheap, so they’re asking for support this Friday, May 8, at 7:30 p.m. Convivium33 Gallery will host the event, just blocks from Zygote Press.

The Bada Bingo Spaghetti Dinner and Benefit includes an art exhibition curated by Convivium 33 Gallery owner and Director of the Cleveland Arts Prize Alenka Banko, music by DJ Ape Bleakney, drag-themed bingo with MC Veranda Lni, a cash bar and a full sit-down dinner with food provided by Flying Fig, Grove Hill, Luna, Phoenix Coffee and more.
Tickets start at $65, but the event is very close to selling out.

“I have been a fan of Zygote Press since the first time I met Bellamy Printz and Liz Maugans,” says Banco. “Add local artists to the formula, mix it up in Convivium33 and Bada Bing! You now have a seriously amazing night. Zygote Press is a great organization that has earned your support.”

Artists participating in the Big Show include (in no particular order) Lisa Schonberg, Rebecca Cross, Cathie Bleck, Jennifer Omaitz, Bellamy Printz, Corrie Slawson& Elizabeth Emery, Jen Craun, Eric Rippert, Michelle Muldrow, Nicole Schneider, Susan Danko, Amber Kempthorn, Erik Neff, Grace Summanen, Susan Squires, Laurence Channing, Jake Hatmaker, Achala Wali, Amy Casey, Amy Sinbondit, Mark Keffer, Jessica Pinsky, Rebekah Wilhelm, Michelle Marie Murphy, Kristen C. Cliffel, Christi Birchfield, Kate Snow, Liz Maugans, Andrea Joki, Hilary Gent, Wendy Partridge, Michael Loederstedt and Lori Kella.

“Zygote had so much fun putting on last year’s ‘Iron Printmaker’ benefit, we decided to take it up a notch with a twist on the idea of a spaghetti dinner in a church hall,” explains Zygote Press’ Executive Director Liz Maugans. “Alenka Banko, owner of Convivum33 Gallery, was so gracious in offering her space. The former St. Josaphat Catholic Church is the perfect place for this event and offers a beautiful backdrop for the art show and fundraiser.”

She adds, “We are also incredibly grateful to our long list of sponsors which includes, William Busta, Process Creative, 4Walls, Jackson Lewis, Blick, Modern Contractors, Consolidated Printing, M Gentile Studios Inc, Phoenix, Luna, Lola, Reddi’s Pizza, Anna in the Raw, Tastebuds, Urban Orchid, First Federal of Lakewood, Hotcards, Fred + Laura Bidwell, Keith + Linda Berr, Outrageous endings by Sandi Lefkowitz, Samuel, Kellogg & Co., Inc., and Dr. Marie A. Simon + John Michael Zayac.”

Bingo prizes include tickets to Great Lakes Theater Company and Blossom, gift cards and gifts from Banyan Tree, Blush, Loganberry Books and many more. The winner of the final bingo card of the evening wins a $300 gift card to Lola and 2 tickets to the VIP Diamond Lounge at the Horseshoe Casino.
