Hard as it may be to believe, the Cavs' juggernaut progression to the NBA Finals for only the second time in franchise history isn't the only major local sports story this month.

Indians' 2nd baseman Jason Kipnis has been playing at a caliber not seen since peak Baerga. The records he's breaking were held by guys who were never photographed in color.  With two more hits Thursday night, Kipnis's monthly total is 48, the most by any Cleveland baseball player since 1914. NINETEEN-FOURTEEN! Kipnis is also the first Indians player with 48 hits, 28 runs, and 20 extra-base hits in a month since July, 1936.

Despite his gaudy numbers in May (.449 battering average, to boot), Kipnis isn't anywhere close to the top spots in MLB All-Star voting. And that, friends, is a crime.

In fact, the only Cleveland Indian among the American League's top vote getters is Michael Brantley, who was in 9th place for outfielders when the MLB released a ballot update earlier this week.

Right now, here are the top five AL second basemen: 1. Jose Altuve (Astros); 2. Omar Infante (Royals); 3. Ian Kinsler (Tigers); 4. Devon Travis (Blue Jays); 5. Dustin Pedroia (Red Sox).

Devon Travis?  Excuse me?

Here's the All-Star ballot. You can vote as many as 35 times. Stop what you're doing right now and vote for the Indians. But do it for Kipnis. His magnificent play needs to be recognized.
