Today, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy McGinty published the results of the Sheriff's Office investigation into the shooting death of Tamir Rice.

While no conclusion is drawn w/r/t whether the shooting was "justified," the report synthesizes details from all angles: witnesses, officers (notably not including officers Timothy Loehmann and Frank Garmback, who declined to be interviewed), EMS personnel, the 9-1-1 caller, and others.

“Transparency (i.e., the actual facts) is essential for an intelligent discussion of the important issues raised by this case,” McGinty said in conjunction with the release. “If we wait years for all litigation to be completed before the citizens are allowed to know what actually happened, we will have squandered our best opportunity to institute needed changes in use of force policy, police training and leadership."

The report comes nearly seven months after the shooting itself and after video of the incident was released to the public

McGinty has said that the case against Loehmann and Garmback will be taken to the Grand Jury.
