Citing ongoing confusion and frustration with how she has been represented legally, Samaria Rice — the mother of Tamir Rice — filed a declaration in federal court that she wishes to fire attorneys Walter Madison and Benjamin Crump. In short, she writes, her attorneys failed "to explain everything to me and to consult with me about the case and to give me their undivided attention."

The declaration outlines some of the behind-the-scenes timeline stuff that hasn't been comprehensively reported. Last month, Scene touched on the first attorney switch that brought Madison and Crump into the fold in December 2014.

Samaria outlines broad concerns over how her personal and confidential information is being and will be treated by her attorneys. She also tells the court that she had expressed concern about Tamir's father, Leonard Warner, speaking publicly in interviews. It's not clear what sort of influence or involvement her attorneys had over that, if any.

She has retained Emery Celli Brinckerhoff & Abady LLP (Charles J. Ogletree Jr), The Chandra Law Firm LLC (Subodh Chandra) and FirmEquity.
