A bartender who was charged with threatening to kill Republican House Speaker John Boehner was found not guilty by reason of insanity in federal district court Monday.

The man, Michael R. Hoyt, formerly worked at Boehner’s country club in West Chester, Ohio. Hoyt crafted a plot which included poisoning Boehner's drink at the Wetherington Country Club and then shooting him before making an escape.

Hoyt, 44, dialed 911 on Oct. 29, telling dispatchers he “didn't have time to put something in John Boehner's drink." When police arrived at his at his home, he introduced himself as Jesus Christ and said he harbored ill will toward Boehner for being the devil.

He accused the Republican for starting the Ebola outbreak, along with a host of other accusations.

After an evaluation earlier this year, a forensic psychologist with the Bureau of Prisons determined that Hoyt's "behavior and statements were grossly disorganized, erratic and delusional,” according to NBC News. After a bench trial, Federal Judge Timothy Black agreed with evaluation's findings and found Hoyt not guilty.

A hearing scheduled for next month will decide if Hoyt is a danger to others. If the judge concludes he is not, he could be released.
