With the holiday shopping season in full force, nearby neighbors the Cleveland Print Room and Zygote Press are hoping to help local artists cash in by hosting “Off the Wall” collections of local artwork.

In celebration of its members, the Cleveland Print Room hosts an opening reception from 5 to 9 p.m. this Friday, Dec. 4, for Off The Wall, its 2015 members showcase. Zygote Press presents its Off the Wall Holiday Show from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, and noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 (reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday).

The exhibitions’ titles refer to how artwork is sold at this cash-and-carry event. Despite the similar titles, the events are independent of each other.

"Our third annual Off The Wall Members Showcase proves to be our biggest and best yet,” says Cleveland Print Room director Shari Wilkins. “With over 400 members at CPR, this year's show features over 100 works hung salon-style with styles and themes for everyone."

The Cleveland Print Room’s free, non-juried exhibition showcases an eclectic variety of photography by the organization’s member artists. Hung salon-style, with work filling the gallery walls, the exhibition showcases a diverse range of styles and techniques, including 35mm, pinhole, photogravure, salt-print techniques, Cyanotype, 19th-century collodion, alternative process work and more.

Off The Wall remains on view through Dec. 18. The exhibition will be open during the ArtCraft Holiday Sale on Saturday Dec. 5.

“Also happening this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5 and 6, is the much-anticipated annual ArtCraft Building Holiday Sale,” explains Wilkins. “We will be open ONLY on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. in our gallery during this event, so be sure to make us your first stop before you make your way through the rest of the ArtCraft Bruilding's many studio spaces.”

Don’t forget about Zygote Press for all your handprinted gifts this holiday season. They’ll be hosting sales this weekend at both their locations. Their main East 30th Street location presents its Off the Wall Holiday Show from noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, and noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5 (reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday). The sale includes framed and nonframed prints, t-shirts, greeting cards, calendars and more by Zygote’s staff, interns, renters and members, as well as gift certificates, memberships and classes at Zygote Press. The sale continues through Dec. 23.
Zygote Press Executive Director Liz Maugans promises, “So many wonderful items handprinted and pulled hot of the press by your favorite Northeast Ohio artists.”

Zygote’s INK House continues the festivities this Friday evening with a Walk All Over Waterloo Holiday Sale from 6 to 8 p.m. Guests can make their own holiday card at the DIY printing station, enjoy a cup of hot cider and view the new editions being printed at INK House.
