Only a few times each year, the eclectic artists of the Screw Factory (aka the Lake Erie Building) open their doors to the public. From 6 to 10 p.m. this Friday, April 8, the Screw Factory hosts its Spring Artists’ Open Studios.

“Over 40 artists and makers will be exhibiting and selling works spanning fine arts, jewelry, leather goods, ceramics, glass and more,” says show coordinator Tom D’Alessandro. “The open studio events have grown quickly over the past nine years. As always, this event is free, open to the public and family friendly.”

Participating resident artists include Bella Ellie, Ann Creed, Gina DeSantis, Robb Durr, Phyllis Fanin, Forest City Portage, Megan Frankenfield, Katie Hanrahan, Freddy Hill, Lauren HB, Karen Jewell Kett, Marc Konys, Michelle Mowery, MC Nagel, Movement Factory, Dan Pruitt, RTD Design Collective, Ursula Ryan, Ryu No Sakebi, Karen St. John Vincent, Wachshaus Von Schneider, Kim Schoel and Achala Wali.

Additionally, the Screw Factory hosts numerous visiting artists and food vendors for the Spring Open Studios, including Rachel Beamer, Souls Repurpose, Hectic Studio, Claire Gustafson, Ice Cream Joy, KB Confections, Rising Star Coffee, Nancy Spotts and Margaret Spotts.

The Lake Erie Building and Templar Industrial Park, also known as the Screw Factory is an 18-acre complex on the edge of Lakewood’s historic Birdtown neighborhood at the corner of Athens and Halstead. At nearly 100 years old, the Screw Factory houses studios for art, craft, dance and fitness, as well as offices, event space, warehouses, a winery and more. The space was originally built to manufacture Templar Motor Cars. The Templar Motors Auto Display will be open as well.
