After the grisly execution-style murders of eight people in Piketon, Ohio, last Friday, Cincinnati-area businessman Jeff Ruby offered up a reward of $25,000 to anyone with information leading to the killer or killers.

Thursday, Ruby rescinded the offer on Twitter due to non-specified developments in the case.

Ruby told the Cincinnati Enquirer that he'd been advised not to elaborate, but one explanation, in line with Justin Glawe's reporting for The Daily Beast, is that Ruby might be hesitant to financially support the Rhoden family, seven of whom were killed, now that it's clear they were dealing drugs.

Glawe reported that even contributions to help pay for the Rhoden family burials have "all but stopped" as information about their marijuana-growing operations (found at three of the murder sites) has percolated among the close-knit community in southern Ohio.

A fundraiser to support the burial and headstone of Hannah Gilley, the only non-Rhoden victim of the massacre — she was Frankie Rhoden's fiancee — will be held Saturday in Piketon.
