Now in its 12th year, the Friends of the Cleveland Kennel host their annual Art Fur Animals benefit from 7 to 10 p.m. this Saturday, May 21, at the Cleveland Masonic Auditorium. Each year, Friends of the Cleveland Kennel fund over $45,000 worth of general and life-saving medical care. Just last year, the Cleveland City Kennel took in 3,600 dogs, and last year’s Art Fur Animals event drew 700 attendees.

“Art Fur Animals is Friends of the Cleveland Kennel's primary benefit of the year,” says Becca Britton, director of Friends of the Cleveland Kennel. “Our mission is to save the lives of homeless animals in need that arrive at Cleveland Animal Control, as well as improve their quality of life while they remain at the Kennel. Some wait for months at a time, waiting for their forever homes. We also are incredibly proactive about providing affordable and accessible assistance to low income pet owners in Cleveland to help keep pets in their homes, so they don't end up at the Kennel due to not being able to afford care.”

This year’s event features a live auction of custom-designed ceramic dogs by more than 20 hand-selected local artists, a silent auction of more than 150 works of art by local and national artists, live music, local craft beer served by special guest bartenders, light appetizers and dessert, raffle baskets valued at over $100 each and more. The event is hosted by guest emcee Dawn Kendrick from WKYC Channel 3 News.

“Each year, the Northeast Ohio artist community donates over 200 pieces of original artwork to our benefit, it is because of them that we can continue to do the important work that we do,” Britton says. “It has been so incredible to see the positive energy and love of art & animal loves that comes out at this event, all joining each year to support our city's animals in need.”

Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. VIP admission is $100 and includes early entry at 6 p.m., preferred seating and unlimited, complimentary beverages. Free on-site parking is available.
