During the nearly eight years it was open, Visible Voice Books, an independent bookstore and gathering place in Tremont, hosted a number of book readings and musical performances. The store closed two years ago but now owner/founder Dave Ferrante plans to re-open the store in a new space at 2258 Professor Avenue (near the intersection of Professor and Literary).

To celebrate the eventual reopening, Ferrante will host Visible Voice Books Rock-A-Lot, a pop-up tent party, on Sunday, July 10. The event will feature local musicians, hand-tossed pizza by Crust, $6 Boulevard Brewing craft beers and Tito’s Handmade Vodka raspberry lemonade, and non-alcoholic thirst quenchers like soft drinks and water.

“It’s going to be a nice complement to the entertainment aspect of theTaste of Tremont,” says Prosperity Social Club owner Bonnie Flinner in a press release. She's helping to coordinate the event. “With [local bands] The Greaves, New Soft Shoe and The Luckey Ones, we have curated an afternoon of great local Americana music with plenty of space to sit down, stretch out and savor the sounds of summer . . . maybe with a beer in hand and Uber or a taxi service on your speed dial.”

The new bookstore won't be open yet, but Ferrante wants to use the party as a way to let the general public know the store will return.

“While we’re nowhere near opening up the building to the public, this pop-up party on the lot is definitely a great opportunity to begin to introduce fans of Visible Voice to our new location and concept,” he says.

Plans for the new space include an expansive outdoor courtyard. The store will share its indoor space with artisan pizza/sub/pasta/salad restaurant Crust.

“We’re excited to be part of the project,” says Crust owner Michael Griffin. “By incorporating more music and opening up even more to the neighborhood with additional outdoor seating, the plan for the reincarnation and expansion of Visible Voice really celebrates the culture, creativity and sense of community that make Cleveland great.”
