The Q Unleashes New Cavs Mural for NBA Finals Games

Posted By on Wed, Jun 7, 2017 at 12:40 PM

You may not be able to land a photo with the actual Cavs players this week, but here's the next-best thing:

A 9-by-10-foot mural (designed by Elliot Gerard and John "Graph" Boyce) depicting the team, will stand outside the Q's Arcade entrance for the next two NBA finals games tonight and Friday.

For the mural, Gerard drew inspiration from a rendering of LeBron James he made last April. James later shocked the artist by posting it on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter with the caption, "Zero Dark Thirty-23 Activated!! #StriveForGreatness."

Gerard is well-versed in athletic art; his resume lists ESPN, Sports Illustrated and Madison Square Garden as previous collaborators. Boyce, too, is a prominent graphic designer based in New York.

Gerard has previously worked with the Cavs, designing a "welcome home" image upon LeBron's return to the team in 2014.

"I love basketball, but when LeBron went to Miami, I was not a fan," Gerard told Cleveland.com. "When he moved back to Cleveland, I started to get why he did it. It was like going away to college and wanting to come back."

For fans looking for even more photo opportunites, a massive white "#TheLand" structure has also been erected outside the Q's Arcade entrance.

Prime time for photo-taking today starts during the public Cavs Fan Fest at Gateway Plaza and East 6th Street. Starting at 5 p.m., fans can also take in live music, enjoy food truck fare and arm themselves with playoffs gear and face paint.

Now get yourself pumped up for tonight's big game with this awesome hype video:
