It’s been about five years since the All-American Rejects have released a new album, but as of just a few weeks ago, they’d release their fifth in the fall. In preparation of the release, TAAR took some time to tour.

After a long set change in the wake of an opening set by the Whiskey Hollow, All-American Rejects singer-bassist Tyson Ritter and the band arrived on stage at House of Blues last night.

You can see a slideshow of photos from the concert here.

Ritter danced along with the music and, at times, with the mic stand. The lustrous performance continued throughout the night as TAAR performed classics such as “Move Along,” “Gives You Hell,” and, of course, everyone’s all-time favorite, “Dirty Little Secrets.” Fans belted out “It Ends Tonight,” a concert highlight, as the group played the song about heartbreak.

Throughout the show, Ritter would point to guitarist Nick Wheeler to play a riff and then point to the crowd as fans screamed in response. “You paid to be here, to get through those doors, [so don’t stream the concert for others],” he said at one point. “They don’t deserve it.” He fondly recalled a previous show in Cleveland when he took an iPad from a fan and smashed it on stage, though later on paid the fan $1000 in cash and took to Twitter apologizing.

The short show clocked in at under 90 minutes, and many fans seemed disappointed when the band didn’t return for an encore.

The local blues/punk rock act the Whiskey Hollow opened with a half-hour set. The band helped bring some energy to the room as singer-guitarist Madeline Finn showed off her powerful voice and did her best to keep the crowd interested. Overall, the crowd responded rather well and cheered Finn on.
