Barriers on Huron Road will be installed on February 5th, the Cavs announced Wednesday, establishing a perimeter for the vast arena construction project that is scheduled to begin by the middle of the month and last for two years.

Initially, the north (Huron) and South (Gateway Plaza) facades will be subject to exterior work. The north expansion will add a 42,530-square foot atrium space along Huron that will be enclosed by a glass facade. The south expansion will add 6,350-square feet to the main concourse.

The Q will still host all scheduled Cavs and Monsters games for the next two seasons, but will be closed entirely during the summers. The Arena Football League's Gladiators will be taking a two-year hiatus.

Due to the construction zones on Huron (pictured above), the two eastbound lanes closest to The Q will be closed. During non-event times, the current two westbound lanes will be split into one eastbound lane and one westbound lane. During events, both lanes will convert to one-way (east toward the Gateway garage before the event, west toward Huron immediately after).

Fans are reminded to account for traffic delays, and plan to arrive early for games and events. The Cavs — and Scene! — encourage fans to carpool or take the RTA.
