Part of the SeriousFun Children’s Network (SFCN), Flying Horse Farms provides "magical, transformative camp experiences" for children with serious illnesses.

Located on 200 acres just outside Mt. Gilead, the camp regularly hosts hundreds of children with serious illnesses free of charge. Founded in 1988 by actor, philanthropist and Ohio native Paul Newman, SFCN is a community of independently managed and financed camps and programs creating opportunities for children with serious illnesses.

Each year, Flying Horse Farms puts on a fundraiser, so it can keep up the good work. A popular "function band," Bluewater Kings Band will headline this year's Campfire benefit that takes place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Tenk at West Bank.

WKYC anchor and Flying Horse Farms volunteer Sara Shookman will emcee.

“Everyone knows camp is fun, which it absolutely is. But at this event, we want to take people beyond the surface of camp and into its soul,” says Flying Horse Farms CEO Nichole E. Dunn in a press release about the benefit. “Our guests will feel the extent of camp’s powerful impact and understand exactly why their generous support is needed — while also giving them a one-of-a-kind night out.”

Patron tickets cost $200. Young professional tickets for those younger than 35 years of age cost $150.
