During the Cleveland International Film Festival, the Cleveland Institute of Art Cinematheque cuts back on its schedule and only screens films on Fridays and Saturdays as part of its annual Cleveland Cult Film Festival.

Now in its ninth year, the festival kicks off on Friday, April 6, with a 7:30 p.m. screening of Performance, the Nicolas Roeg/Donald Cammell film that stars Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger as a former rock star who becomes infatuated with a criminal.

Because of all the sex and drugs, it originally received an X rating, and Warner Bros. shelved it for nearly two years. Now, it’s regarded as a cult classic.

The Cinematheque will screen a 35mm print of the flick. The movie will also show at 9:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 7.

The Cleveland Cult Film Festival schedule also includes the French anti-war film King Hearts (April 6 and 7), the documentary Antonio Gaudi (April 13 and 14), and the Dario Argento thriller Deep Red (April 13 and 14).
