Filmmaker Joe O'Connell claims that stuntman Gary Kent is the real “most interesting man in the world.” He should know — he’s made a documentary movie about the guy.

Kent worked on more than 100 films during the independent film/drive-in movie surge of the '60s and '70. Kent's resume includes working with directors such as Monte Hellman, Richard Rush, Al Adamson, Ray Dennis Steckler and Don Jones, and he starred in flicks like Ride in the Whirlwind, The Shooting, Satan's Sadists, Schoolgirls in Chains and The Incredible Two-Headed Transplant.

He also worked as Jack Nicholson's longtime stuntman. O'Connell says Kent is likely the inspiration for Brad Pitt's stuntman character in Quentin Tarantino's forthcoming film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

O'Connell's film, Love and Other Stunts, tells Kent's personal story and the story of that era in film. The "love" of the title represents both his troubled relationship with actress wife Tomi Barrett and his "love" for his stunt buddies.

Kent and O'Connell will be in town for a screening of Love and Other Stunts that takes place at 11 p.m. on Friday, April 6, at the Strongsville Holiday Inn as part of Cinema Wasteland. Day passes to Cinema Wasteland cost $20.

Ultimately, Love and Other Stunts will have a limited theatrical release through the Alamo Drafthouse chain. Its distributor is also about to take the film to the Cannes Film Festival.
