To celebrate Pride Month, the Capitol Theatre has partnered with the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland to present a special film series.

The program kicks off on June 5 with a screening of The Constitution, a film about a gay professor who gets attacked by a homophobic ground of young men and women. The movie, which is in Croatian with English subtitles, won the Grand Prize of the Americas for Best Film in the World Competition section at the Montreal World Film Festival as well as the European Film Critic Award at the Pula Film Festival.

On June 12, the Capitol will screen The Misandrists, a wacky flick about a radical feminist terrorist group whose mission is to “usher in a female world order.”

The following week, on June 19, the Capitol presents a special 30th anniversary presentation of Torch Song Trilogy. An adaptation of the Tony Award-winning play, the movie stars Harvey Fierstein as a gay Jewish man who goes through “the same struggles of love, jealousy and self-doubt that affect us all.” Matthew Broderick and Anne Bancroft co-star.

The series concludes on June 26 with To a More Perfect Union: The U.S. v Windsor, a film about octogenarian Edie Windsor and her attorney, Roberta Kaplan, as they fight a law denying federal benefits to same-sex couples.

The movies all screen at 7:30 p.m., and 20 percent of all concession sales during the series will be donated to the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland.

Admission is $9.75 for adults, $7 for seniors/children and $8.75 for students.
