Just in time for the first outdoor holiday of the year, the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA) has issued an Orange alert for air quality covering most of Northeast Ohio.

From Lorain to Akron, the air quality has been classified by the NOACA as "unhealthy for sensitive groups," and the organization urges active children and adults, people with lung diseases/asthma, and senior citizens to reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors.

Most of Northeast Ohio will drop down to a Yellow alert tomorrow, meaning the air will only be irritating to those with lung conditions or hypersensitivity to pollutants.

The Ohio EPA recommends pumping gas at night, using battery operated lawn equipment, using public transit, avoiding idling your vehicle and not burning leaves or trash to help combat the air pollution.

Thanks to the drastic shifts in weather we've had the last few weeks, this weekend will also boast extremely high levels of pollen. If the air pollution doesn't get to you, the allergen irritants surely will.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!
