An annual event that benefits the SeriousFun Children’s Network, a “global community” of camps for kids with serious illnesses, the A&F Challenge regularly features national alternative rock acts. This year, Fitz and the Tantrums, Judah & the Lion, Betty Who and Van William will headline the festival that takes place at 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 7, at the Abercrombie & Fitch Co. home office in New Albany.

Regional and Central Ohio musicians will perform on an acoustic stage, and there will be a 5K race, local food and drink vendors, and other family friendly activities. The event often draws more than 4,000 patrons and has raised more than $16 million for nonprofit organizations since its inception in 2001. Last year, it raised more than $3 million, making it the world’s largest SeriousFun fundraiser.

Founded by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman, SeriousFun supports brick-and-mortar camps and pop-up programs across the globe. The network includes Flying Horse Farms in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, located approximately 30 miles from the A&F Co. home office.

“The A&F Challenge is an amazing event that raises funding and awareness for the important work done by SeriousFun Children’s Network. The camp-inspired event truly is for everybody and is a great night filled with wonderful music, food and fun,” says Fran Horowitz, CEO of Abercrombie & Fitch Co., in a press release. “Paul Newman founded this network of camps because he believed that children with serious illnesses should get the chance to just be kids. We wholeheartedly agree. And we hope to see even more people on our campus this September so that together, we can give thousands of kids the magical, life-changing experience of summer camp.”

Tickets, which include admission, the chance to run in the 5K, music, food, drinks and activities, cost $75 for adults and $25 for children.
