Named after a children’s book, the Akron-based indie rock group Time Cat has recently gathered some momentum. The online music magazine Noisey published a profile of the group last year, and the band has just announced it’ll record a live album at the new Akron Recording Company (ARC) recording studio.

Locals Ben Patrick of the Dreemers and Nate Butcher of See Creatures founded the studio, which offers both analog and digital recording. The show is open to the public; it takes place at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 29.

“We're recording a live album in front of a studio audience to capture the raw realness of a Time Cat show,” says singer-guitarist Jeri Sapronetti. “We have two full-length studio albums, and we wanted to try something different. We'll be projecting a film while we play as well as documenting the set.”

Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. You can then use your ticket to get $5 off of a vinyl or CD version of the album when it’s released at Akron's Porch Rokr festival on Aug. 18.
