Great Lakes Brewing Co. officially turns 30 years old next month. And in celebration of its pearl anniversary, the brewery has concocted a special Imperial Oyster Stout set for release Monday, Aug. 20, on tap and in stores.

Founded by Pat and Dan Conway back in 1988, the original Cleveland craft brewery has come a long way since humble beginnings and is now the 20th largest craft brewery in the United States.

Competition has grown exponentially over the last decades — consider when GLBC turned 25, the state had only 60 breweries, and this year, that number has risen to nearly 270. The beverage company's staying power is aided by special releases, brewery tours and expansions at just the right times (including a recent land purchase in the Scranton Peninsula).

The new anniversary beer was crafted using fresh oysters, salt and cacoa. It's also quite strong, coming in at 11 percent alcohol. No word on how much of an aphrodisiac the oyster-filled beer will prove to be.

A 22-ounce bottle will run you $10 bucks. Find out more about the beer right here.
