To mark the halfway point to the 2019 iteration of the Cleveland International Film Festival, the Capitol Theatre will host a special screening of shorts at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27.

Sacred Hair [pictured], a film about a chance meeting between a young ill boy and a Muslim woman in a Montreal park, will screen. It won the 2018 CIFF’s award for Best Live Action Short. Other winnners such as The Driver is Red, Spice Sisters, Zion, Bagheera and Stag will screen as well.

The event will also include a sneak peak of one of the shorts that will show at the 2019 festival. Some of the films that will screen will qualify for consideration in the short film competition at the 2019 Academy Awards.

Event organizers will also give away a CIFF all-access pass and vouchers. Tickets to the event cost $15.
